My favorite rifle is everything made by Weatherby. A minor problem with this shooter is the Weatherby price, weighing in at $395, but for that you do get a hand crafted piece of artwork with the American walnut stock. My Mom's favorite caliber for me is the 300 Weatherby Mag because it has the best combo of power and speed to make it the most versatile for the different types of game in Illinois.
I like higher power scopes as in 4x12 - 4.5x14 on the Weatherby Mark V Sporter. I got my Weatherby 7mm WSM online at Cabelas. I got my Weatherby 300 Weatherby Mag at the Wiley Outdoor Sports in East Bend.
