I like the the 220 Swift best for deer hunting. I ordered my Savage Model 111 in the hunting section at Gart Sports in Palmarejo, Mississippi.
My dad's favorite gun is the Savage Model 111 that saved my life and that of my crew in Vietnam. My all-time favorite hunt was when the Gobbler jumped on the back of that Hen decoy just south of Palmarejo. My Dad's favorite caliber for me is the 6mm - 06 because it has the best combo of power and speed to make it the most versatile for the different types of game in Mississippi. I got my Savage 6mm - 06 last fall at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Palmarejo.
There is a new edition of my new Savage Model 111 with the fiddleback maple chambered in 220 Swift and 6mm - 06. I got my Savage 6mm - 06 at the Wiley Outdoor Sports in Palmarejo. My most favorite rifle is everything made by Savage. A minor problem with this shooter is the Savage price, weighing in at $395, but for that you do get a hand crafted piece of artwork with the fiddleback maple stock.
I like that you can shoot the Savage 220 Swift without much fuss. The best all around caliber I own is probably the 6mm - 06 from Bass Pro Shops in Palmarejo.
My friend (Ollie) said his favorite caliber is the 6mm - 06 he got at a NWTF banquet last season. My dad got his rifle at a store in Palmarejo.
